How to use the solver
- 1
Type your last guess. Enter the five letters from any guess you've already made in Wordle, using your keyboard or the on-screen keys.
- 2
Match the colors. Tap each tile until it matches what Wordle showed: grey for a letter that isn't in the word, yellow for right letter wrong spot, green for right letter right spot.
- 3
Pick your next guess. The list updates with every change. Top-ranked words test the most common remaining letters, so they eliminate possibilities fastest. Repeat after each guess.
Solver tips
The solver understands Wordle's duplicate-letter rules. If you mark one E green and a second E grey, it only shows words with exactly one E — the same logic the official game uses when a letter appears twice in your guess but once in the answer.
When the list is down to a handful of words that differ by one letter (like SHADE, SHAME, SHAKE), don't guess them one by one. Pick a word that tests the differing letters at once, even if it can't be the answer — you'll solve the puzzle one guess sooner on average.
Curious whether a word has already been an answer? Check thecomplete archive of past Wordle answers — the New York Times has almost never repeated a solution — past answers are effectively off the board.
